Swaps and a little twist

I have been involved in a lot of swaps again this time and all of them had a bit of an autumn/Halloween theme. My favorite season and holiday of the year. I had to create 4 atcs 2 with a jack o lantern theme another 2 with haunted house and I just love them.

I think my favorite one is the pumpkin with hat. I don't have a particular reason why however but I just feel it works really well and might consider doing this on my Halloween cards this year.

Another swap I have done is an autumn themed swap which I have to send to two different partners. Both my partners have different tastes so it was a little awkward and what I should get them but hopefully they will both like there little packages

the 1st person was into crafting more so I stamped her some pumpkins and gave her some autumnal felt shapes

The 2nd partner was more into writing so I made her, her own autumn themed letter set to write to her pen pals. I was overall pleased with it.

Both partners also receive a ghost decoration which was a quick thing I whipped up but I think they look really cute and might consider making some more. But what does everyone else think?

As mentioned in the title I said there was a little twist. Well I got my haircut the other day and me and my hairdresser was talking about 40s/50s hair and how I can style it to fit with my short hair I have. And I didn't realise until she mentioned that most of that era women had short hair and instead of getting my hair poker straight we decided to go with a bit of volume and curl and I just love it! It's defiantly different to usual.

But there is so many things I can do with it that I didn't know about it. So I will be now investing in some rollers and hopefully will play a little bit more with my hair as I was starting to get a little bored of it being straight everyday.

Hope everyones having a lovely sunny day!

Weekend Recap

It has been such lovely weather over these past couple of days. To sunny for my liking as it is meant to be autumn and want to layer up (sad face) oh well it will come soon fingers crossed. Anyways on saturday I want to the stamp and scrapbooking show at alexander palace in London. It has been a while since I last went to a craft show 10 years to be exact definitely a long time. It was quite busy though but my nan and my mum said it was a lot busier the year before. Heres a couple of pics of me, mum and my nan.

What I'm wearing is
Top- Band T-shirt from uncle
Shirt- Topshop
Shorts- New Look

I also managed to get what I needed from the stamp show my 1st set of tim holtz ink pads after using my mums quite a bit I thought it was about time. I also got a set of pro-markers and a few papers plus this adorable little notebook.

Overall it was a good day and lots of inspiration thats been photographed.

We came back saturday evening from London and on the sunday me and my mum had a lazy day in. We was going to watch a film but found out the dvd played was broken so decided to snuggle up on the sofa with homebaked cheese scones, pumpkin spice latte (homemade syrup by my mum) and a warm blanket while sat watching some recorded stuff from a QVC Craft Show.

Definitely a craft inspired weekend. And plenty of ideas for my halloween themed atcs I have to make. The blog post tomorrow should be full of it!

Baby fish and cake ring

I haven't really done much today. This is what I get for not being at uni and going out with my friends but there should be more interesting blogs after the 1st October which is when I get back. I can't wait to see all my housemates again hopefully it will be another fun filled year even it does consist of dissertations to be wrote and final projects to be done but it should be fun.

Anyways I have been meaning to blog about this now for two weeks but we have had some baby catfish. When I say some however I mean loads probably about 20 me and my parents think but they are so cute I want to keep at least one but apparently the bristlenose catfish are quite territorial once paired which is a shame but we will be trying to pass them on to other people and to fish shops. Sorry for the quality of the image but here is mummy and one of the babies.

They look so tiny in comparison to there mum and dad but they are cute with the little mouths and shiny silvery bellies.

Another thing I have been meaning to talk about this week is something I won on a giveaway over at Deer Donna. Which was this lovely cake ring by The Cookie Button

I very rarely win things so it was exciting to win this I have followed cookie buttons blog for some time and always seem to find something she has made that I like. She has some lovely cute kitsch stuff in her shop which you should go visit. But thank you Cookie Button for the ring.

I'm going to be down in London for the next couple of days at is the Stamp Show at Ally Pally. Its been a while since I've to a craft show and won't be buying a lot but I hope to buy at least some Tim Holtz ink Pads for the moment as I've never really seen any craft shops in Hereford. Anyways I will try and get some blog posts done for tomorrow and Saturday and will be back on the Sunday ready to blog on the Monday.

Mother Daughter day and birthday

I'm going to start off my blog with saying happy birthday to my Mum! I love my mum so much and as always I try and make her nice cards and give her nice pressies especially if they are wrapped in cath kidston paper.

I usually make her something for her birthday and I know she has been on about getting a mini bunting to go across her craft space so that's what I made her.

It was so easy to do. I might have to make one for myself and do a tutorial as well its simple!

Anyways its a bit late to post now but it was such a fun day on Friday that me and my mum had. We decided to go to derby after she finished work to do a little shopping and get our feet eaten by fish! Yes you heard me correctly and I loved it! It was a little ticklish at first especially as I have really ticklish feet but it soon became very relaxing and you see results instantly. I hope there might be somewhere in hereford I can get it done especially cause its so good for my feet and makes them look and feel nicer. We also went and visited starbucks to try there new creme brule coffee and absolutely loved it. It is now officially my autumn coffee.

Before we even got our feet done however me and my mum went to get things that we needed well there was discounts on etc. She brought a pair of boots from evans and I brought this lovely. And I absolutely love it! And it only cost me £5 thank you to o2 giving £50 vouchers plus 20% student discount at dorothy perkins taking this coat from £69 to £5.20 that I only had to spend on it. Definitely a well worth purchase.

The hood can be removed as well from the jacket which is quite handy shame it isn't red otherwise I could be Little red riding hood. The outfit in the middle is what I'm wearing tonight for my mums birthday meal out at Jamie's Italian.

Jumper:New Look
Skirt: Next
Tights: New Look

Also as promised here is my gloves that I made. Because I have tiny wrists I had to adjust the pattern a little so they would fit me perfectly but I love how they came out and can't wait to wear them when its colder.

Better finish getting ready. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

1940s at rufford abbey

It seems like ages since I last did a blog post I have been busy house sitting for one of my dads friends and looking after a dog. I mentioned last week I was heading to a 1940s event at Rufford Abbey and I'm so glad I did. It was a warm day but with a very strong wind and I'm glad the rain was holding up to not spoil the day. It was more about seeing the weapons and different army forces from world war 2 but it was really interesting to see. It make me want to go and relive my childhood by going back to Eden Camp and looking at the tanks and how women lived. I would have enjoyed them days sitting in front of the fireplace knitting/crocheting away not having to work especially after the war was over. I'm sure I was born in the wrong era. Anyways here is some pictures from the event.

I will be posting up some more pictures up on my flickr but I will let you know when they will be up. There was also a few vintage clothes stalls and I did try and resist in buying more clothes as it is all I have seemed to have done of these past couple of months coming back. But because of my wardrobe being so full I think I might have to try and sell some items of clothing I don't wear as much and maybe stock up on some more vintage clothes. If only I had the money to by vintage clothing.

Also this week I have finally managed to get all my christmas cards done for family friends and my atc cards which I will post tomorrow to america. But here is the design for them.

I really enjoyed making my little red riding hood. It took me some time to come up with how to draw and colour her but otherwise I think she works.

I know for most people there kids went back to school last week. I wish I could remember my first day of school. I know the pictures we have however are a little blurry but thats what you get for having disposable film cameras. Anyways hope everyone had a good weekend.

Christmas cards already!

Just as the title says I have been busy making christmas cards today as I know when I get back to Hereford I will have no chance in making things what with my dissertation and final body of work I will need to produce. The dissertation is what I am dreading the most to be honest as I struggle to write especially if its 6000-8000 words!!! Anyways my christmas cards this year involve the gorjus girls brand and I love them. They was meant for last year but I managed to loose them and found them again. Anyways here is just some of the cards I have been making.

I have also been busy making my next lot of atc cards with A little Red Riding Hood Theme but these will be uploaded soon. In the mean time here is to atcs that I have received both very good and makes me want to draw more. Here is my creepy/cute and little red riding hood.

For the next week I'm not going to be posting as much as I am house sitting at the moment and I'm not sure I will be getting up to anything interesting apart from going out on saturday and the dentist tomorrow. How I hate the dentists!

Outfit Post and pics from yesterday

First I'm going to show a sneaky peak of some of the fabric I am using on my pencil/makeup cases that will be in my shop hopefully this week as I have had a little bit of a mad crafting weekend.

Also before I forget here is the pictures I was trying to post up yesterday.

Anyways now all that is all done. My parents came back from holiday to today and got me a variety of lovely little gifts such as this very cute hair slide and necklace

I love the hair slide. It is made from leather and even though it has a hairslide on the back I thought I could use it one cardigans and bags as well. Talking about the hairslide here is me wearing it with my outfit. It was a little chilly today and I very rarely wear long socks. I also thought to make the outfit pop a little I would wear a blue belt just to break up the brown but I thought I would give this look ago while supporting one of my new nail polishes I brought the other week

Jumper: New Look £8
Skirt: Vintage at Southbank £10
Belt: Primark
Socks: New Look £2.50
Shoes: Zara £25
Nail Polish: Barry M £2.95

I'm meeting up later today with some of my friends that I havent seen since this time last year. I really miss hanging around and chatting with them I should stay in contact more often. So off I go to get ready and there might be some pictures. I'm not promising hehe. Sorry for the bombarding of pictures.
