Roll up roll up!

Happy new year everyone! I know have been away for a while but I have had to change job etc and just not had time to blog. Hopefully things will change this year as I'm looking to set up a business in my crafts and still continue coming up with photographic projects. But at the moment working at Starbucks is just way too much fun. Anyways I was asked by lily of the octopodes factory to come up with a design with her new circus images.

I'm not a big fan of clowns but these are so cute! As usual I wanted to do something different to just a tag or a card so I designed a little circus train with the main focal point being the clown digi.

I made the paper myself using a red promarker then using brushed corduary and vintage photo stains. The extra circus themed images I got from pinterest on a selection of Victorian circus themed cut out toys for children.
At first I was not sure of the combination of the Victorian images and the octopode image but they work really well together. If you would like to purchase these images then please visit the octopode factory shop were all the digits are a very reasonable price.

Slugs and Snails and puppy dog tails- Toff Challenge

This fortnights challenege over at The Octopode Factory this week is 'Slugs, snails and puppy dog tail' (boys theme) I instantly thought of using one of the avengers digis Captain America (as he is my boyfriend, Georges fav character)

I created a tag with a very patriotic theme to it so would be great for American Independence day if I live in America that is. I created the background using distress stains Broken China and Pickled Raspberry and brushed on some white paint. I then got some star paper (sorry can't remember the brand) and added a little bit more of an edge at the bottom. I got the 12x12 seasonal Tim Holtz pad and cut out some of the little words from the 2x2 sqaures 'Blue Patriot'

I hope you like the tag and should go check out all the other inspirations from the other DT Members someone else decided to use the avengers as well! So get enter your boy themed card and you could win 3 free digis of your choice over at The Octopode Factory shop!

Long time no see

Wow its been some time since I've blogged and it is either because I have been busy or ill!

Well firstly I am a little bit behind but here is my Friday Challenge for the Octopode Factory on music.

I love the little Mermaid so much and throught this would be a good opportunity to use the mermaid digi by Lily. While making the card I had the film playing the background. As well as that last weekend I went to photograph a building for an architecture. Finally my first paid job in a field I want to do; photography. I'm not going to post a lot but here is a few.

The building was amazing and I was so lucky with the weather as I thought it would rain but the copper captured the sunlight beautifully. Yesterday I was off again doing another photoshoot for Lizzie May Vintage which have been such a great help to me since I've finished uni. While I think about it please go vote for them at the Vintage Awards the link is just below these images that I photographed for them. The photographs was a selection of Vintage clothes that they own in there store. There are some lovely outfits that have been put together.

To check out a few more photos from the shoot just check out my facebook page of website. Again the links will be at the bottom of the page. I promise I will try and blog more what with work and photography I am becoming a very busy girl.

See you guys soon!

Friday Octopode challenge- Flowers

This weeks theme of at TOFF is flowers. I must admit I have been getting a little bored of just making cards and tags so I decided to do something a little more different. I decided on making myself a permanent bunch of flowers for my home.

I used the digi 'How does your garden grow' for this challenge and just printed out the variety of flowers on a mixture of different 6x6 papers I have. It was a little tricky at first but I soon got the hang of what I needed to do with the printer settings (along with help from the boyfriend.)

I then collaged the flowers and made them more 3d by using foam pads. After this I then got my white and green straws to use for the stalks. I fished out a masons jar filled it with blue tissue paper at the bottom to look like water.

To finish it off I just added a little 3d butterfly I had lying around for ages! It has definitely started to make it feel like spring in the home.

Now the explaining is over all you have to do to enter is visit The Octopode Friday Challenge blog by this link and enter your own themed card, tag or something a little out of the box with the theme of flowers. If you use Lilys designs you get entered twice! The winner chosen by Lily will then get a choice of 3 free digis!

Have fun with this challenge and Spring will soon be on the way!

Cedric

another design using the Octopode Factory stamps this time it was fairy/angel themed and I just love Cedric from Lily's steampunk collection and I was so excited to use him for this.

I used my promarkers again for colouring him in with along with some silver glitter on the wings. I then used some tiny steampunk cogs in the corner along with a lovely button that George brought me for Christmas.

Anyways you can check out more fairy inspiration over at Lilys Blog. There some lovely examples.

=(

I know I keep saying this but  really DO need to get back into the swing of things of blogging. I get home from work and I just want to relax as my only days off are on Sundays and even them I am still busy tidying up the flat and trying to get some crafts done.

Anyway I have done quite a few Halloween seasonal swaps this week. So here is some little sharing time. I hope you like them

Halloween Sign

I was interested in the little matchbox swaps I have been involved in and with someone elses help we organised a private swap in which I would send her an Halloween themed matchbox. Here is the one I sent

I have yet to receive mine yet but I absolutely loved this swap. The matchbox was so much smaller than I expected but either way I think it is adorable I hope she likes it. My only issue is that I am a little unsure that if I did more matchbox swaps were would I store them so I thought it would be best to stick with more seasonal ones and then I can have them out on those holidays.

I hope you enjoyed these little crafts and I will try and blog more otherwise i will force myself to.

I'm Back

After having a week of internet I am finally back to blogging after a couple of months in which I apologise for the lack of posts these last couple of months.
Fingers crossed it won't happen again and I'll be back to my usual blogging.

The past couple of months for me have been quite fun an interesting as well as graduating with a 2.2 in Ba Photography Top-up I also went to London for my usual trip to see my Nan.

As usual we took a trip down Camden and Portobello Road and all the other places that I visit with my family.

Mums old haunt down Kensington when she was younger

As well as having a trip down London I have been preparing for a Vintage Festival happening in the town centre of Hereford so if you are around you should come visit as I will not only be exhibiting and selling my photography work but I have made some upcycled crafts such as apple cosies, bunting and even postcards and mirrors.
Apart from just selling items I also plan to have a go at my idea for my future plans as a photographer. That being a Vintage Inspired Pop-up Studio in which i plan to photograph people with in a little vintage setting. This probably being a mini tea party or using my typewriter or a book depending on what the person would like. From there I then plan on putting the images up on my website and hopefully selling the images.

Hopefully I will get everything done in time and everything goes to plan as this is going to be my first fair.

I thought I wouldn't bombard everyone with a long post of what I have been doing for the past couple of months so I feel this was suitable.

Emails, emails and more emails!

I have been making a lot of phone calls along with emailing places today trying to plan locations for my vintage inspired photoshoot I have planned. I did ring the Black Country Museum today which would have been perfect however it costed a little bit too much after adding on petrol cost and time. Owell at least I have a few other places I can look into photographing around such as Ascot Farm and maybe even Ironbridge if I feel it is the right venue. Enough about university work I have been constantly thinking about it all day as I have a shoot planned this saturday and I am just hoping the weather will hold out. *fingers crossed* Time for a break from the uni work by letting you know what I have been up to. I have been trying to crafting into my busy schedule this past weekend and I made at atc for a swap I joined through swapbot.

This is a stamp designed my The Octopode Factory of Dorothy. At first I didn't like it as the yellow brick road and the sky wasn't working plus my white gel pen decided to be a bit of a pain. But I keep looking at it and have been given a few compliments about it and I am falling in love with it! It makes me want to watch the film again as well. About 4 years ago I used to have a pair of red sparkly shoes they I constantly wore to secondary school and the amount of times I got called Dorothy because of them. It was heartbreaking to throw them in the bin.

This weekend as well has had a few more birthday surprises to. They just keep coming and it is now May! Anyway from my housemates I got a book on how to make some cakepops which I will be attempting in the next fortnight. It has to be done and I will remember to blog about them.

I also received some silicon heart shaped cupcake moulds and some lolly sticks for the cakepops. When I visited my mates house on Saturday I also received a couple more gifts which was this lovely box in which I need to find somewere for in my uni room as I am running out of space. I also received a lovely ceramic thermal mug saying my favourite saying and the title of my final photographic work 'Keep Calm and Carry On'

Have you ever received presents a couple of weeks after your brithday? I must admit I loved it personally.

Weekend Plans 24th-25th

My weekend is jammed pack full of crafting for the fun of it to reading some books for university. I will probably be crafting more however. The craftyness I will be getting up to this weekend is make a new circle skirt. This was just a spur of the moment thing so I went out and brought some bright summery fabric can I just quickly say yay for this hot weather!

Other craftyness I will be getting up to is crocheting a blanket for my room back at my parents house. This will probably take me a year to make but we shall see. Book wise they are just boring books like self-publishing books and exhibiting photographic work however there will be one book I will be enjoying this weekend which is the Tim Walker Pictures Book. It is all in the name of Uni work of course.

I have gotten this out before at my uni library and I forgot how massive and bulky the thing is but I do love Tim Walkers fashion work. Probably over the holidays when I have more cash especially cause its my 21st in April eep! I will be buying this book especially as it is only £40 on Amazon. Bargin!

I better start crafting this skirt I decided to do today fingers crossed it will come out and look all right.

Date night and craft

Its been such a very chilly day it just makes me want to cuddle up with a blanket and hot chocolate and watch a movie on the TV. That's if I had a TV. I guess I could do the same with a laptop. Anyways I have been receiving a lot of items in the post through swap-bot which I will share some of the items with you.

Can't wait to try out the Starbucks coffee I think I will tonight or tomorrow as I haven't tried that flavour before!

As well as receiving a lot of post I have been busy trying to rethink my folksy shop and also my new etsy shop which should be sorted in the next month. Anyways because I have a love for photography and crafting I thought why not and try and combined both of them. Here is just a little drawing I've done so far.

I thought it could either make a cute plush for children to use or maybe do smaller versions as brooches. Especially if I do variety of cameras such as the classic Polaroid. I have also been considering maybe trying to sell some of my photographic work online but I will have to think about that still.

In other news me and George decided to have a 'date night' and stupidly I forgot to take pictures of my outfit plus a few pictures from the night. Anyways I wore a combination of orange and pink with my new black shoes. And we decided to go to ASK as we had never been before. However, the whole reason we went was because I noticed there was an O2 priority moment for 2 courses for £10. However, this was only on the O2 set menu which to be honest there was nothing veggie apart from a Margarita pizza so we coughed up well I say we, George coughed up the money for the meal.

It was such a lovely night that we're thinking of doing it more often. Maybe once a month if we have the money. Hopefully next time we have another date night there will be pictures.
Hope everyone wrapped up warm!

hereford and crafting

Even though George is up for the week I should really blog more even when he is around. But anyways so far I haven't really been doing much. Well I did some crafting the other day of some more flowers but with a more autumn feel. They will be up in my shop in the next week along with some new pencil/makeup cases as well which I love at the moment.

The other day me and George had to take a trip down to hereford as I had to get some photos to somewhere I am exhibiting which I don't think I have actually mentioned on here. I am exhibiting my childhood fears work for the Hereford Art Week which is on the 10th September then ends on the 18th September. Hereford Art Week has a variety of exhibitions over the Herefordshire area. My work is being exhibited in a multi room cafe and gallery called 'An Acre of Art'. Here is a little bit more information on them. But if your in the Herefordshire Area you should go see the work

Hereford Art Week
An Acre of Art

Also I entered a competition through Dab and Dash and sadly didn't win but got one of the runner up prizes which was this lovely handbound and stitched journal plus a cupcake brooch. I love both of them and can't wait to use the book.

I'm off today going into Nottingham with george to do a bit of ice-skating shopping and eating at cafe rouge before he goes back home tomorrow. Fingers crossed there might be some pictures. Hope every ones having a nice day.

Ooo before I forget I received one of my creepy/cute ATC cards the other day and I absolutely love it!
